Centre and Plaza Mayor

The heart of Castellón is compact and largely pedestrianised. In a few steps you go from Plaza Mayor, with the Central Market, the co-cathedral and the Fadrí, to Puerta del Sol and Plaza de la Paz, opposite the Teatro Principal. The surrounding streets are full of shops, cafés and tapas bars. For a city break, shopping or work, you have everything at hand here. During the Magdalena festival it is also where the parades and atmosphere are.

Parque Ribalta and La Farola

Between Parque Ribalta, the city’s great historic garden, and Plaza de la Independencia, known as La Farola, are streets of larger buildings with a residential feel. You are a stroll from the centre, near green spaces for running or walking with children, and close to the bullring. Parking is usually easier than in the old streets.

El Grao

The seafront district grew up around the port, which still has a fishing fleet. There are rice and fish restaurants, the walk along the quays and the Planetarium facing the sea. Staying in the Grao combines a seaside-town feel with the beach close by. The TRAM, a trolleybus line with its own lane, links it with the city centre.

Pinar and Gurugú beaches

North of the port stretch Pinar and Gurugú beaches, wide and sandy, with a promenade. Behind them is the Pinar park, a large pine wood with play areas and shade. It is the area families prefer for summer beach days, with seafront apartments and hotels. Out of season it is very quiet and some businesses close.
