Gandía beach and Paseo Neptuno

Gandía beach, separated from the town by farmland, has most of the accommodation on the streets off the Paseo Neptuno seafront. The sand is right in front, with ice-cream parlours, restaurants and bars open until late in summer. It is the area for a beach holiday, with children or in a group, getting around almost entirely on foot.

Best-rated in this area: Senator Gandia, with a score of 9.0 from 11,270 reviews.

El Grau and the port

At the southern end of the beach is El Grau, the old seafaring quarter by the port. Here you will find the fish market, rice and fish restaurants and a more village-like feel than the promenade. Across the port begins Venècia beach, which is quieter. It is a good choice if you want the beach without the bustle of the central area and like eating the catch of the day. The marina and its walkway are pleasant for an evening stroll.

Best-rated in this area: Hugo Beach Hotel & Apartments, with a score of 7.6 from 2,276 reviews.

Historic centre

In the town itself are the Borgia palace, the Collegiate Church of Santa María and Paseo de las Germanías, with shops and terraces. Staying in the centre is good for unhurried sightseeing, eating in local bars and finding life in winter too, when the beach is quieter. The train station is here, at the end of Cercanías line C1 from Valencia, and buses leave from it to the beach.

Best-rated in this area: CASA DE LUJO CON PISCINA PRIVADA en ZONA MUY TRANQUILA, with a score of 9.1 from 13 reviews.

L’Ahuir and the north beach

Past the most built-up stretch, the north beach gives way to l’Ahuir, with dunes and hardly any buildings. It is one of the few stretches of this coast that keeps its old landscape of sand and vegetation. The nearby streets have apartments but few services. It suits you if you want rest and long walks on the sand, and have a car to go to dinner on the promenade or into town.
