Historic centre and the Jewish quarter

Sagunt, the old town, rests on the slope of the castle hill. From its streets you walk up to the Roman theatre and the fortress enclosures, crossing the Jewish quarter, with the church of Santa MarΓa nearby. There are bars and restaurants around the Plaza Mayor. It is the area for anyone coming for the history who doesn’t mind slopes. In summer, climb to the castle first thing and leave the afternoon for the beach, a short bus ride away.

Best-rated in this area: DOMUS Amabilis, with a score of 9.2 from 760 reviews.

Puerto de Sagunto

El Puerto is the part of the city that grew up around the steelworks, by the sea. It has a promenade, a sandy beach, shops and plenty of neighbourhood life. Blast Furnace No. 2 and the old Gerencia buildings show that industrial past. It suits families and anyone wanting beach and town at once. City buses link it with the historic centre. On summer nights the promenade fills with people and ice-cream parlours.

AlmardΓ

Next to El Puerto, AlmardΓ  is an area of houses and apartments facing a quieter beach with dunes. It is lively in summer but rather empty the rest of the year. A car is the easiest way to get around. Families spending the summer here find beach bars, a seafront walk and a beach that nearly always has space.

Best-rated in this area: 2 apartamentos en una excelente villa de playa compartiendo Piscina y JardΓn, with a score of 10.0 from 14 reviews.

By Sagunt station

Staying nearby lets you visit Valencia for the day without driving and come back to sleep at leisure. From here you walk up to the historic centre. Around it are cafΓ©s and local shops for everyday needs.
