Where to stay in El Saler: the best areas

El Saler village and the jetty

The village of El Saler lies on the Albufera side of the CV-500 road, among rice fields and canals. You are next to the jetty where boats set out on the lake, surrounded by restaurants serving paella or all i pebre eel stew. It is a quiet spot, more for locals than tourists, for anyone who wants sunsets over the water and good rice.

The EMT number 25 bus links it with Valencia, continuing on to El Palmar and El Perellonet.

El Saler beach and the Devesa

Crossing the CV-500 towards the sea you reach the pine woods and dunes of the Devesa. Accommodation here is scarce and scattered, with a golf course and the odd apartment block. In return, you step straight out onto the sand and the park’s waymarked trails. It suits anyone wanting a beach without the crowds, cyclists and birdwatchers. In summer, the Devesa beaches fill up with people from Valencia at weekends.

Pinedo

To the north, Pinedo is the district closest to the city. It has a beach, summer apartments and neighbourhood bars. From here you quickly reach both the City of Arts and Sciences and the Devesa, by car, by bike or on the number 25 bus. It combines city and natural park.

El Palmar and El Perellonet

Further south, El Palmar is an island ringed by canals in the middle of the lake, with traditional barraca cottages, jetties and many rice restaurants. There are few places to stay, but it has a fishing-village atmosphere that is hard to find anywhere else. El Perellonet, by the canal of the same name, has a beach development and seasonal apartments. Both areas suit families in summer and anyone preferring to be far from the city noise.
