What is Chamberí?

Chamberí is the residential district north of Malasaña and Chueca, stretching to Cuatro Caminos and the Castellana. It is everyday Madrid, with markets, schools and bar streets such as Ponzano or Plaza de Olavide. Here you will find the Sorolla Museum, in the painter’s home, and Andén 0, the old Chamberí metro station turned into a museum.

Getting around from here

The district has metro stations everywhere: Iglesia (line 1), Quevedo (2), Bilbao (1 and 4), Alonso Martínez (4, 5 and 10), Rubén Darío (5) and Ríos Rosas (1). Line 1 goes to Sol and Atocha without changing, and Nuevos Ministerios, with line 8 to the airport, is very close on the east side.
