Where to stay in Medina del Campo: the best areas
Plaza Mayor
The huge Plaza de la Hispanidad brings together the collegiate church of San Antolín, the town hall and the palace where Isabella the Catholic dictated her will. Under its arcades and in the streets leading off it are the tapas bars and many of the shops.
It is the area for first-time visitors who want to walk to the museums, including the Museo de las Ferias. At Easter it is where you will find the most atmosphere.
Best-rated in this area: Hotel Reina Isabel, with a score of 8.5 from 846 reviews.
Around the Castillo de la Mota
The Castillo de la Mota stands a little apart from the centre, on a small rise, with its moat and brick keep. The surrounding area is more open and residential, with parks and wide streets that suit families. Sleeping nearby lets you see the castle floodlit at night and visit early, and the square is still a short walk away.
Railway stations
Medina del Campo is a railway hub. The conventional station is close to the centre, with trains to Valladolid, Salamanca and Madrid. On the outskirts is Medina del Campo AV station, on the high-speed line to Galicia.
Staying near the conventional station makes sense if you are travelling without a car or planning day trips by train. It is an unpretentious area with basic services, and from it you can walk to the Plaza Mayor through shopping streets.
Exits towards the A-6
At the access points from the North-West motorway there are places to stay with easy parking. They suit you if you are touring the area by car: the Rueda appellation wineries lie to the north, Tordesillas is a short distance away and the Palacio de los Dueñas, in the centre itself, can be seen in a short visit.
