Around the palace

The streets around the royal palace and the collegiate church are the liveliest part of the Royal Site. From here you enter the gardens as soon as they open and come back to rest at midday, welcome in summer. There are plenty of stone houses with wrought-iron balconies, restaurants serving Segovian cooking and cafés with terraces in the squares.

It is the best option for a weekend break without a car. And at night the village gets back the calm it loses during the day.

Royal Glass Factory and the village streets

A little further down, around the Royal Glass Factory, the layout keeps the order the Bourbons gave it, with straight streets and two-storey houses. Here you will find small places to stay and apartments suited to families, with the palace and gardens a short walk away.

Valsaín and La Pradera de Navalhorno

To the south, the road to the Navacerrada pass enters the Valsaín pine forests. In this village and in La Pradera de Navalhorno, both in the same municipality, there are rural houses and places to stay surrounded by forest, with trails starting almost at the door.

It is the area for those coming to walk in the Sierra de Guadarrama, see the pine forest or head into the mountains in winter. La Granja is a very short drive away.

Towards Segovia

La Granja is very close to Segovia, and buses link the two. If your trip is split between the aqueduct, the Alcázar and Philip V's gardens, you can sleep in the city and come for the day. If you prefer the reverse, stay at the Royal Site and go down to Segovia one morning, away from the bustle of its streets.
