Lower town and the A-1 exit

Lerma sits beside the A-1 motorway, between Madrid and Burgos. Down below, near the river and the entrances, there are places to stay where you can park easily. They are useful for a one-night stop or if you are setting off early next day for Covarrubias, Santo Domingo de Silos or the La Yecla gorge. From the road you can already see the palace silhouetted above the town.

The climb to the square is short but steep.
