Where to stay in Noia: the best areas

Historic centre

Noia's medieval centre is small and can be walked end to end. Staying inside puts you next to the church of San Martiño, the Rúa Real and the arcades of the Praza do Tapal, with its bars and terraces. A few steps away is Santa María a Nova, with its cemetery of carved guild tombstones.

It is the choice for those coming for the history who want to go out to dinner without the car. The streets are narrow and some are pedestrianised, so ask where to park before you arrive.

Best-rated in this area: Hostal Kukia, with a score of 8.7 from 1,107 reviews.

La Alameda and the estuary front

Between the Alameda and the shore of the inlet lies the more modern part of town. Here there are shops, cafés and wider streets, with the old town just across the road. It suits you if you will be driving around the area or arriving by bus from Santiago.

Testal and Boa

If swimming matters more to you than old stones, look for accommodation near the beaches of Testal, next to the town, or Boa, further towards the mouth of the estuary. They are calm-water beaches, convenient with children. From Boa it is a short drive back to the centre.

Outes and Ponte Nafonso

On the other side of the estuary is Outes, linked to Noia by the medieval Ponte Nafonso bridge and by road. It is scattered houses, meadows and water views, with less going on than in town. It suits travellers looking for calm who do not mind driving a little for dinner or to visit the old town. It also works for trips to Monte Pindo and the Carnota coast.
