Centre and Plaza de España

Plaza de España is the centre of life in Ribadeo. Here stand the Torre de los Moreno, a domed Modernista building, and the palace that now houses the town hall. In the streets running down to the estuary you will find shops, cafés and Indiano houses with white glazed galleries.

If you are coming by train, the station on the coastal line between Ferrol and Asturias is near the centre. From here everything is on foot, and it is convenient for stays of several days.

The harbour and the Eo estuary

Heading down from the centre you reach the marina and the old loading pier area, facing the Eo estuary. Opposite is the Asturian shore, with Castropol and Figueras, linked to Ribadeo by the Santos bridge. In the evening the waterside walk fills with people.

It suits those who want water views, seafood restaurants at hand and flat walks without a car.

Illa Pancha and Rinlo

Heading west along the coast you reach the Illa Pancha lighthouse, on an islet joined to land by a bridge. A little further on is Rinlo, a small fishing harbour with houses right by the sea, famous for its seafood rice. Here you sleep peacefully with the Cantabrian Sea in front, but you will get around by car. Between Ribadeo and Rinlo there is a seaside path you can walk or cycle.

Devesa and Cathedrals Beach

Cathedrals Beach, or Augas Santas, is in the parish of Devesa, towards the border with Barreiros. Its rock arches are best seen at low tide. Staying in the rural houses here lets you arrive early, before the groups, and combine the visit with other nearby beaches. For more choice at dinner you will have to go back to Ribadeo.
