Fefiñáns

The Plaza de Fefiñáns and its surroundings form Cambados's noble quarter. Staying here puts the pazo (manor house) on your doorstep, along with the wineries that open onto the square itself and several taverns where you can order an Albariño with razor clams. At night the area goes quiet and the floodlit granite looks wonderful. It is the option that brings you closest to picture-postcard Cambados.

The surrounding streets are stone, and some are for residents' cars only, so ask about parking when you book.

Centre and seafront

Between Fefiñáns and Santo Tomé lies the town centre, with shops, seafood restaurants and the promenade along the ría. Here, facing the water, is the pazo de Bazán, and a little uphill is the ruined church of Santa Mariña. It suits you if you want to walk by the sea at sunset and have services to hand. You will find parking more easily than in the stone streets of the old town.

Santo Tomé

At the southern end is the fishermen's quarter, with low houses, nets and the islet of San Sadurniño, with the remains of its tower, just offshore. There are fewer places to stay, but the atmosphere is more village and harbour. It appeals to those who prefer somewhere simple near the water and do not mind a walk to Fefiñáns.

Vineyard parishes

Inland, parishes such as Castrelo or Vilariño are surrounded by trellised vines and dotted with wineries. Here there are plenty of rural houses and pazos converted into accommodation, almost always with a garden. You need a car, and in return you get calm, long breakfasts and easy access to the road to O Grove and A Toxa.
