Where to stay in Fisterra: the best areas

The harbour and the town

Fisterra is laid out around its fishing harbour, with the fish market, seafood restaurants and a maze of streets climbing the hillside. It is where many pilgrims end up after extending the Camino from Santiago, so you will find pilgrim hostels, guesthouses and apartments almost side by side. Staying here gives you every service on foot and an evening buzz on the quayside terraces.

Buses connecting with Santiago and A Coruña stop in the town, making it easy to arrive without a car.

Lighthouse road and Mar de Fóra

Leaving town towards the cape you pass the Romanesque church of Santa María das Areas and reach the lighthouse, where many come to watch the sunset. On the other side of the peninsula is Mar de Fóra beach, wild and facing the ocean, with currents dangerous for swimming. In this area there are isolated houses and places to stay with views, perfect for those seeking open horizons and very dark nights for stargazing.

Langosteira and Sardiñeiro

East of the town stretches Langosteira beach, long, with fine sand and more sheltered water, along which the Camino arrives. Further along the coast is Sardiñeiro, a small settlement with its own beach and holiday homes. Both areas suit families and those who prefer swimming to the harbour atmosphere.

Corcubión

Across the bay, Corcubión keeps a historic centre of houses with glazed galleries and manor houses, facing Cee. It is a quiet alternative, with good road links, for those touring the Costa da Morte by car as far as Muxía or Ézaro. Cee, right next to it, has supermarkets, petrol stations and more shops, useful on longer stays.
