Spa quarter and Font del Lleó

The historic centre revolves around the Font del Lleó square, where the hot water that made the town famous flows. Next to it are the Roman baths and the Thermalia museum, and in the nearby streets are the traditional spas, several in late 19th- and early 20th-century buildings. You stay a few steps from the water, the spa circuit and the restaurants of the centre.

It is the area for those coming to relax, spend a weekend as a couple or take a spa cure of several days.

Old town and Santa Maria

A few streets from the Font del Lleó is the church of Santa Maria, with its great Baroque façade, and the shopping streets of the old town. The centre also keeps the Escalfador, the old public hot-water wash houses. There are fewer places to stay, but you get town life, a market and bars close at hand, and the whole spa quarter a short walk away. It is a good choice if you want to alternate bathing with strolls round town.

Outskirts and estates

Around the town there are residential estates and some places to stay by the access roads, near the industrial estates. They are useful for business trips around the Vallès or if you are driving from Barcelona and want easy parking at the door. From here the spa quarter is a few minutes' drive away and, from some, even walkable.

Sant Sebastià de Montmajor

Within the municipality of Caldes, towards the mountains, this small settlement keeps a Romanesque church surrounded by farmhouses and woods. Paths lead from here to the Cingles de Bertí and Sant Miquel del Fai. It suits hikers and those who prefer to sleep in the countryside and go down to the hot baths only when they feel like it.
