Seafront promenade

The strip along the beach is the natural choice for a sunny holiday. The promenade runs almost the full length of the flat coast, with beach bars, rice restaurants and windsurf and kitesurf schools. In the evening it fills with people out walking or cycling. In the background, the Garraf mountains close off the beach to the west.

Castelldefels Platja station, on the R2 Sud commuter line, is close to the sand and takes you to central Barcelona without a car.

Town centre and castle

The old core is inland, around the church of Santa Maria and the castle, on a small hill overlooking the plain to the sea. It is an area of local life, with a market, shops and neighbourhood bars, and with Castelldefels station, also on the R2 Sud. You will like it if you prefer an everyday atmosphere and the beach only for a few hours.

Olympic Canal and Baixador

The Catalonia Olympic Canal offers canoeing, rowing and water activities, with parks around it. It is a good place for outdoor sport away from the sand. The Baixador area has its own commuter stop. Around it are quiet residential neighbourhoods with good access to the C-31 motorway, suiting families travelling by car and anyone who needs to reach El Prat airport early.

Bellamar and Montemar

At the western end, where the coast starts climbing towards the Garraf massif, are the Bellamar and Montemar developments. They are hillside streets of villas, with sea views and plenty of silence. From here you can quickly reach Garraf Natural Park and Sitges along the coast road, but you will depend on the car for almost everything.
