Where to stay in Sant Cugat del Vallès: the best areas

Centre and monastery

The old town is laid out around the monastery and Plaça Octavià, with pedestrian streets full of shops, terraces and restaurants. The Rambla del Celler, which runs past the modernista winery, and the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat station of Sant Cugat are a short walk away. From there, the S1 and S2 lines run straight to Plaça de Catalunya in central Barcelona.

It's the area chosen by those who want to see Sant Cugat and take the train into Barcelona without relying on a car, and by anyone who wants to eat out and get around on foot.

Best-rated in this area: El Sant Cugat, with a score of 8.8 from 115 reviews.

Sant Joan and the business parks

North of the centre, near the AP-7 and B-30 motorways, are offices, company headquarters and research centres. Accommodation here is designed for business travel, with parking and quick motorway access. Sant Joan station, on the S2 line, takes you to the centre and Barcelona without a car, although there's little going on at night. If your schedule is full of meetings, it's worth it; if you're on holiday, the centre is better.

Valldoreix and La Floresta

To the south, right on the edge of Collserola, these two neighbourhoods are areas of houses with gardens among pine trees, each with its own station on the line to Barcelona. Here you sleep surrounded by greenery, with paths leading straight into the nature park. They are popular with families, cyclists and those who want peace and quiet without being far from Barcelona. There are few shops, so for dinner out you'll need to head into the centre.

Mira-sol

On the other side of the centre, Mira-sol is a residential neighbourhood of detached houses and wide streets, with its own station on the S1 line towards Terrassa. It suits long stays and those looking for quiet streets just a step from the centre.
