Centre and fishing harbour

The old centre slopes down to the harbour, where the fishing fleet is still at work. Staying here you can eat rice or fish a few steps from your bed and watch the boats unload in the afternoon. Several small coves are within walking distance along the coastal path, without needing the car.

It's the area for those who want a seafaring atmosphere, are travelling without a car or want to board the early tuna-watching trips, which leave from the same quay. In August, expect some noise in the streets near the harbour, where the terraces are.

Best-rated in this area: Hotel Bon RepΓ²s l'Ametlla de Mar, with a score of 8.8 from 1,145 reviews.

Holiday estates along the CamΓ de Ronda

On either side of the village the coast is lined with low houses and apartment blocks among pine trees, overlooking rocky coves. The GR-92 trail runs past, so you can head out for a walk or a swim straight from your door. Rentals with gardens or pools are plentiful here, which families and groups of friends appreciate. For shopping or dinner in the centre you'll need a car or bike.

Calafat

North of the village, Calafat is a large residential estate with its own marina. It has a residential feel, wide streets and many second homes. It appeals to sailors, to those looking for silence and to anyone who prefers a villa with outdoor space. It has good links to the N-340 and AP-7, handy if you plan to explore the area.

Best-rated in this area: Residencial Marina de Port, with a score of 8.6 from 94 reviews.

Les Tres Cales

Towards L'Ampolla, this area takes its name from the coves in front of it. It's smaller and quieter than Calafat, with detached houses and holiday flats. It puts you closer to the rice fields and lagoons of the Ebro Delta, so it suits those who want to split their days between swimming and trips into the delta. The beaches here are small and usually less crowded than those in the centre.

Best-rated in this area: La Sirena, with a score of 10.0 from 7 reviews.
