Centre and l'Arenal beach

The town is laid out around l'Arenal beach, a long stretch of sand with a promenade. Behind it is the old centre, with shops, restaurants and the remains of the medieval hospital that gave the town its name, founded by Prince Pere. Staying here you can do almost everything on foot: beach, shopping and dinner.

It suits families with young children, as the water is shallow and the sand is two streets away. It also suits those who prefer to leave the car parked and do everything on foot during the holiday.

Around the marina

At the end of the bay is the marina, with a sailing school and kayak or paddleboard outings. Around it are apartments and houses with sea views and a slightly quieter atmosphere than on the promenade. It appeals to water sports fans, couples and those coming for a long stay who prefer a rental with a terrace over the water. From this side of the bay you get good views of the sunsets over the sea and the coastline, and the promenade restaurants are still a short walk away.

South coast and Torn beach

Heading south out of town, the landscape changes. The apartment blocks disappear and pine woods, coves and seaside campsites appear. Here is Torn beach, a naturist beach surrounded by dunes and vegetation. It is the area for sleeping in a bungalow or tent, hearing the sea at night and getting around by car or bike to the centre and the nearby developments of Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet.

If you want to combine beach and mountains, this part of the municipality leaves you well placed to drive inland to the Serra de Llaberia and the villages of the Priorat. Bring supplies, as many campsite services close out of season.
