Calafell Platja

The beachfront is the liveliest part of Calafell. The promenade runs alongside a long, shallow beach that is easy with children, and on it you will find Casa Barral, the museum of the publisher Carlos Barral. The streets parallel to the sea have restaurants, ice-cream parlours and summer shops.

Very close by, next to the coast road, is the Iberian Citadel, a visit children love. It is the liveliest area on summer nights, when the promenade fills with terraces.

Segur de Calafell

To the east, Segur de Calafell has its own beach and a marina. It is an area of apartments and holiday homes, with a slower pace than Calafell Platja. The promenade continues from Calafell, so you can walk or cycle along the shore. Its station, on the coast line, lets you go to Sitges, Tarragona or Barcelona without a car.

Best-rated in this area: Hostal Lleida, with a score of 8.3 from 278 reviews.

The old village

Calafell village is a few kilometres inland, on a small rise. At the top, the castle and the Romanesque church of Santa Creu overlook the plain down to the sea. It is a small place with quiet streets, suitable if you want rest and do not mind driving to the beach. At night it has a very quiet village feel.

Best-rated in this area: Hotel El Castell, with a score of 8.3 from 443 reviews.

Coma-ruga and Sant Salvador

To the west, in the municipality of El Vendrell, the coast continues with Coma-ruga and Sant Salvador. Coma-ruga has a lively promenade and a wide beach. In Sant Salvador you can visit the museum devoted to Pau Casals, in his former house facing the sea. Both are a good alternative for families who want plenty of sand and a little more variety of services.
