Sant Salvador and the spa area

On the outskirts, next to the Sant Salvador park, is the spa that made the town famous, surrounded by trees and with thermal waters used for centuries. The park has fountains, shade and waymarked walks, and from here the climb starts to Farners castle and the chapel of Santa Maria, at the foot of its ruins.

This area mainly attracts those coming to rest, couples looking for a weekend of water and massages, and anyone who wants to walk in the woods without taking the car.

Farmhouses towards Les Guilleries

To the west the land rises towards Les Guilleries, a massif of holm oaks, cork oaks and chestnuts. To the south-east, on the plain, are Riudarenes and Sils, quiet villages with the odd rural stay. Sils has a station on the Barcelona-Girona line, useful if you are not travelling by car. They also bring you closer to the motorway and to the coast at Lloret and Blanes, which are handier than from the hills.
