El Pedró

The medieval enclosure, at the top of the hill, has the Torre de les Hores, the church of Sant Pere and the viewpoint over the plain. There are very few rooms inside the walls and a few on the streets running down to the newer part. In return, in the evening the village empties of day-trippers and you can wander the arches and cobbled streets almost alone.

It suits couples and anyone coming for the heritage. The slopes and cobbles make it less comfortable with large suitcases or pushchairs.

Farmhouses among the rice fields

The plain around Pals is dotted with stone farmhouses, many converted into rural houses and small places to stay with gardens. You sleep among rice fields and orchards, with the village in view and the road to the coast nearby. It is the choice of families and groups looking for space who plan to drive around the Baix Empordà, from Peratallada to Torroella de Montgrí. Out of season these are the quietest options in the area.

Platja de Pals and the golf

By the sea, the beach is a long, open stretch of sand backed by pine woods and the golf courses that give the area its name. Apartments, campsites and holiday homes are concentrated here. It is preferred by those who want the beach every day and those coming to play golf; to go to the medieval village or out to dinner you will need a car or bike.

Begur

To the south-east, Begur combines its castle and its houses built by returning emigrants with coves such as Sa Tuna, Aiguafreda and Sa Riera. It has more restaurants and nightlife than Pals, especially in summer, and is the starting point for the coastal paths towards Palafrugell.
