Central Sort

Sort is the capital of the Pallars Sobirà and its centre gathers shops, restaurants, a pharmacy and the tourist office. The old-town streets climb towards the remains of the castle of the Counts of Pallars, with views over the valley. Staying here puts services at hand and lets you have dinner without driving. It is a comfortable base if you plan to combine different activities over several days.

Along the Noguera Pallaresa

The river crosses the town and the rafting, kayaking and hydrospeed companies set up along its banks. Sleeping by the water lets you walk to your activity, put on your wetsuit and come back to shower without travelling. It is the favourite area of groups of friends and families with teenagers. In summer it is very busy during the day and calms down at night. Out of season, the riverbank is still a good place to stroll and take in the valley.

Rialp and the road up to Port Ainé

Rialp is a few kilometres upriver on the C-13 and has its own services. From there the road climbs to the Port Ainé ski resort. Staying in Rialp saves you driving if you are coming to ski in winter, and in summer you are still beside the river and the valley trails.

Enviny, Olp and the hillside villages

On the slopes around Sort are small villages such as Enviny and Olp, with stone houses and slate roofs. From them you get open views of the valley, silence and paths leaving from the village itself, in exchange for narrow, winding roads. They are ideal for couples or walkers seeking nature and calm after a day of activity. To shop or go out to dinner you have to drive down to Sort.
