Centre and Plaça Vella

Central Terrassa spreads between the Plaça Vella, the Raval de Montserrat and the shopping streets linking them. Here are the town hall, the Casa Alegre de Sagrera and most of the restaurants. Terrassa Rambla station, on the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat S1 line, takes you to Barcelona's Plaça de Catalunya without changing trains.

It is the liveliest area in the evening and the most convenient if you come without a car. For dinner, most bars are in the streets near the Plaça Vella.

Vallparadís and the Seu d'Ègara

Vallparadís park runs across the city along an old stream bed. Beside it are the Vallparadís castle-charterhouse, home to the city museum, and the group of churches of Sant Pere, Santa Maria and Sant Miquel, the Seu d'Ègara. Vallparadís Universitat station also serves the Polytechnic University campus. It is a green, quiet setting a short walk from the centre.

Rambla d'Ègara and Estació del Nord

On the Rambla d'Ègara is the Science and Technology Museum of Catalonia, in the old Aymerich steam mill, one of the great buildings of industrial modernisme. Nearby, Estació del Nord connects the S1 with R4 commuter trains. It suits those coming for work who alternate meetings in Terrassa and Barcelona. Not far away, in Sant Jordi park, stands the Masia Freixa, another symbol of the city's modernisme.

Matadepera and the hills

To the north, Matadepera is a residential town at the foot of Sant Llorenç del Munt. The routes up to La Mola start here. It is worth it if you come to walk or want calm, although you will need a car to get around. These are streets of houses with gardens and almost no nightlife: here the plan is to get up early and walk.
