Centre and Lloret beach

The main beach runs the whole length of the town, with the promenade, the statue of the Dona Marinera and, up above, Sant Joan castle. Behind are the pedestrian streets, the parish church of Sant Romà, with its colourful domes, and the bus station. Staying here puts everything within walking distance, including the clubs on Avinguda Just Marlès.

That same nightlife means the centre attracts young groups in summer. If you are coming with children, look for somewhere on a side street or consider other areas.

Best-rated in this area: Gran Hotel Flamingo-Adults Only older 18 years old, with a score of 9.2 from 4,484 reviews.

Fenals

West of the centre, separated by a rocky headland, is Fenals beach, more open and with pine trees down to the sand. The area has hotels, apartments and a family holiday atmosphere. Very close by are the Santa Clotilde Gardens, on terraces above the sea. You reach the centre along the coastal path or the street, an easy walk.

Best-rated in this area: Costa Encantada Suites & Resort, with a score of 8.7 from 4,365 reviews.

Santa Cristina

Further towards Blanes, the hermitage of Santa Cristina looks over two coves surrounded by woods. Around it are developments of houses and apartments, quieter and greener. It is the area for people who want a secluded beach and do not mind using the car or the bus to go into town.

Best-rated in this area: Hotel Santa Marta, with a score of 9.0 from 893 reviews.

Canyelles

To the east, Canyelles cove has a small marina and a sheltered beach. The developments on the hillsides have sea views and lots of silence, but the slopes are steep and the centre is too far to walk. It appeals to couples and to anyone making trips along the Costa Brava towards Tossa de Mar, on a winding road beside the cliffs. In summer boats leave from Lloret beach and stop at several coves along the coast.

Best-rated in this area: Pinzon, gezellige familievilla met groot zwembad., with a score of 9.0 from 17 reviews.
