Where to stay in Andújar: the best areas

Plaza de España and Santa María

Andújar's old town is compact and flat. Between the Plaza de España, with the church of San Miguel and the town hall, and the Plaza de Santa María, with the Clock Tower, are the shopping streets and tapas bars. Staying here lets you walk to the Palacio de los Niños de Don Gome and the churches. It is the most convenient option if you are interested in the town, its ceramics and Jaén cooking.

Best-rated in this area: GL Hotel Logasasanti, with a score of 7.3 from 519 reviews.

Banks of the Guadalquivir

South of the centre, the river marks the edge of the town. Near the Roman bridge there are riverside walks and quiet residential areas, a short walk from the old town. It is a good option for those who like to go for a run or a stroll as evening falls.

Motorway access and the station

Andújar sits on the A-4 motorway, between Madrid and Andalusia, and has a railway station. At the motorway exits and on the approach avenues there are functional places to stay with ample parking. They are chosen by travellers passing through, people on work trips and those wanting an early start to Jaén, Baeza or Úbeda without crossing the centre. Being halfway between Córdoba and Jaén, it also works for combining several cities.

On the way to the sierra

To the north, the road up to the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Cabeza enters holm-oak dehesas and the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park. Along it are rural houses, cortijos and rural tourism estates, many with fireplaces and pools. They are the base for wildlife fans who head out at dawn in search of the Iberian lynx and, in autumn, to hear the deer rut. You will have to drive everywhere, and mobile coverage can drop on some stretches.
