It is the area families prefer in summer, and those who come to lie in the sun. From the promenade to the old town is a good stretch uphill, so many people drive.

To the east, towards Motril, the district of La Caleta-La Guardia has newer developments near the beach and the coast road. There is usually more room to park and apartments with shared pools. It suits those travelling by car who want to explore the Costa Tropical, towards Motril or Almuñécar. The feel is more residential, with fewer bars than the village, so many people go up to the centre for dinner.

Inland, among fields of tropical crops, Lobres and the farmhouses of the Guadalfeo plain offer rural houses and places to stay with gardens. It is an option for peace and space, a few kilometres from the beach. You need a car for everything, including dinner, but in return you get cool nights with no traffic noise.
