Old town and Los Bateles

Staying inside the white village lets you do everything without touching the car. Within a few streets you have the Torre de Guzmán, the Puerta de Conil, Plaza de España and plenty of terraces for dinner. You walk down to Los Bateles, the town beach, with a seafront promenade and very wide sand.

It is the liveliest area at night, especially in summer. It appeals to travellers without a car and anyone who wants to go out for dinner and drinks without driving back. Parking in the old town is difficult.

La Fontanilla and Fuente del Gallo

North of the old town, La Fontanilla beach is sheltered by low cliffs and has restaurants by the sand. You are still a stroll from the centre, but the atmosphere is calmer. A little further on is Fuente del Gallo, with coves between rocks and apartment developments. It suits families and couples who want the beach nearby and quieter nights.

Calas de Roche

To the north, by the Roche lighthouse, a development spreads among pine woods with several small coves at the foot of the cliffs. It is the option for anyone seeking silence, nature and walking down to the beach on paths. Here you do need a car or bike to get to the village and the supermarkets, as the houses are scattered and there are few services on foot.

Castilnovo and the Conil countryside

South of the river Salado begins Castilnovo beach, a long stretch without buildings that you can walk from Los Bateles. In that area and in the countryside around the village there are plenty of rural houses, farmhouses and apartments with gardens. It is a good choice if you come by car and want space, a pool or to bring pets. In return, to dine in the old town you will have to drive and find parking, which gets tricky in August.
