Puerto Marina and Benalmádena Costa

Puerto Marina is the centre of Benalmádena’s nightlife, with bars, restaurants and terraces around the pontoons. Next to the marina are Sea Life and Malapesquera beach, and the promenade continues towards Bil-Bil castle. Staying along this strip puts the beach in front of you and the nightlife a few steps away.

It suits couples and groups of friends who spend the day on the sand and go out after dinner. In high season it is noisy until late around the marina.

Best-rated in this area: Sahara Sunset, with a score of 8.8 from 3,460 reviews.

Arroyo de la Miel

Arroyo de la Miel is the most urban part, with shops, tapas bars and neighbourhood life. Here you will find Parque de la Paloma, Selwo Marina and the base of the cable car up to Mount Calamorro. Benalmádena-Arroyo de la Miel station, on the C1 commuter line, links you to Málaga, the airport and Fuengirola without a car. You can walk down to the beach on a gentle slope.

Best-rated in this area: Hostal Sol y Miel, with a score of 8.5 from 3,749 reviews.

Benalmádena Pueblo

On the hillside, Benalmádena Pueblo keeps its white streets, small squares and viewpoints over the sea. There is little going on at night and you sleep well. Nearby are the Enlightenment Stupa and Colomares Castle. It is chosen by people who prefer views and calm and do not mind taking the car or the bus to get to the beach. Dinners in its squares have a different pace from those at the marina.

Torrequebrada

West of the marina, Torrequebrada is a residential area with a golf course, a casino and less crowded beaches. It is an option for long stays, golf or families looking for a pool and space. From here Torremolinos and Fuengirola are close by motorway, although without a car it is harder to get around.

Best-rated in this area: Villa Flor de Azahar, with a score of 8.8 from 801 reviews.
