Marina

Almerimar is built around its large marina, ringed by arcaded buildings, restaurants, cocktail bars and chandlers. It is the liveliest area, day and night, and the choice for those arriving by boat or coming to sail. Around the basins there are apartments overlooking the yachts and everything within walking distance. The marina itself has sailing schools and boat hire. On summer weekends there is music in the bars until late.

Beach and promenade

On either side of the marina stretch long beaches of sand and shingle, with a promenade for walking or cycling. The seafront is mostly apartment complexes with pools, designed for families coming for a week or two. The water is usually calm and the atmosphere relaxed, without the bustle of other parts of the Almería coast.

Golf and residential estates

Inland, the Almerimar golf course is surrounded by estates of villas, townhouses and green areas. It is the favourite part for golfers and those looking for roomier rentals and quiet. There are supermarkets and basic services, but for the beach or the marina a bike or car will come in handy. Some houses open straight onto the course.

Punta Entinas and Guardias Viejas

To the east begins the Punta Entinas-Sabinar Nature Reserve, with dunes, junipers and salt pans where you can see flamingos. To the west, Guardias Viejas, with its castle by the coast, offers simpler houses and apartments and less crowded beaches. Both suit you if you are looking for nature and calm, with a car to get around. San Agustín and El Ejido, inland, have more shops all year round.
