Plaza Vázquez de Molina

This is Úbeda's most famous Renaissance ensemble. On the same square you have the Sacred Chapel of El Salvador, the Palacio de las Cadenas, now the town hall, and the church of Santa María de los Reales Alcázares. Behind it, on the edge of the walls, are viewpoints over the Guadalquivir valley and Sierra Mágina. Staying here is the best choice if you are travelling as a couple and want to stroll the monumental centre at night without crowds.

Calle Real and Plaza del Primero de Mayo

Calle Real links the shopping centre with the monumental quarter and is lined with manor houses. At the end opens Plaza del Primero de Mayo, with the church of San Pablo and the old town hall. It is an area with bars and restaurants, convenient for lunch and dinner without the car. It leaves you halfway to everything and is usually a little livelier than Plaza Vázquez de Molina.

San Millán and the potters

Outside the walls, to the east, is the San Millán district, with Calle Valencia and the workshops of Úbeda's traditional green-glazed pottery. It is a simple residential area, quieter and with easier parking. It suits you if you are interested in crafts and do not mind walking up to the centre.

Plaza de Andalucía, with its Clock Tower, marks the entrance to the historic centre from the newer town. It is the most practical area if you arrive by bus or car, as parking is easier and you can head out to Baeza, Jaén or the Sierra de Cazorla.
