What to see in Boecillo

Must-sees

Boecillo is about fourteen kilometres from Valladolid, in the Tierra de Pinares area, between the rivers Duero and Cega near where they meet. It is a village that has grown a lot in recent decades, mainly because of the nearby city and its Technology Park, one of the most important in northern Spain, home to aerospace and Earth observation companies.

Its most striking building is the former Palace of the Counts of Gamazo, neoclassical and late 19th-century, once the residence of the politician Germán Gamazo and now part of the Casino de Castilla y León. The church of San Cristóbal is from the same period and style. The surrounding pine woods and riverbanks invite a walk.

Free tours and guided visits

There are no free walking tours, regular guided visits or organised tourist activities in Boecillo. Most people explore the village on their own and enjoy the paths through the pine woods and along the rivers. If you want a guided visit, Valladolid has free walking tours of the old town and trips to the area's wineries, which you can combine with a stop here.

How long to spend

Boecillo can be seen in an hour or two: the palace from outside, the church and a stroll through the centre. If you like walking or cycling, add an afternoon in the pine woods and along the Cega. The usual plan is to include it on a Duero route with Simancas or Tudela de Duero, or as a half-day trip from Valladolid.

Where to stay

Accommodation in the village is limited and very much geared to business travellers at the Technology Park. For sightseeing it usually makes more sense to stay in Valladolid, especially in the centre, from where Boecillo is a few minutes away by car. Another quiet option is Simancas or Tudela de Duero, which are also close and have more atmosphere.
