What to see in Prullans

Must-sees

Prullans is a small village in the Baixa Cerdanya, in Lleida province, at about 1,100 metres on the sunny slope above the river Segre. It is known as the viewpoint of the Cerdanya, because from its streets you take in the whole valley and, opposite, the great wall of the Serra del Cadí. The old village is quiet and built of stone, with the church of Sant Esteve, with a Romanesque apse and a square bell tower, next to the old manor house of the barons of Prullans and remains of the walls.

Very close is Ardòvol, a hamlet in the municipality with a very old church dedicated to the Mare de Déu del Roser. For walking, the surroundings have springs and mountain tracks, such as the Font Sobirana, and the hermitage of Sant Quintí on the hillside. Across the Segre begins the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park, with routes of every level.

Free tours and guided visits

There are no free walking tours or regular guided visits in Prullans, which is easy to explore on your own. What you will find are nature activities in the area, such as horse rides and guided mountain outings in the Cadí-Moixeró. In winter, the Cerdanya ski resorts are a short drive away. For more history, Bellver de Cerdanya and Puigcerdà, very close, have larger old towns.

How long to spend

The village can be seen in an hour, including a while at the viewpoint. The interesting thing is to use Prullans as a base for exploring the Cerdanya: over a weekend you can combine a route in the Cadí with visits to Bellver de Cerdanya and Puigcerdà. If you come to ski or for a multi-day hike, three or four nights let you get around the valley at an easy pace.

Where to stay

Prullans has a few rural places to stay and apartments in the village itself, with open views of the Cadí, and a campsite in the municipality. Sleeping here gives you silence and a good starting point for the valley. If you cannot find a room, Bellver de Cerdanya is a few minutes away and has more choice, and Puigcerdà has the widest range of hotels and services in the area.
