What to see in Rincón de la Victoria

Must-sees

Rincón de la Victoria is a few kilometres east of Málaga and combines beach with a bit of history. Its most unusual sight is the Cueva del Tesoro, one of the few sea caves in Europe. It has cave paintings and a legend about treasure hidden by an Almoravid king. The visit follows easy galleries.

Beside the beach stands the Casa Fuerte de Bezmiliana, an 18th-century fortification that defended the coast from attacks by sea. The seafront promenade is long and links several districts, such as La Cala del Moral. The Senda Litoral coastal path lets you walk beside the sea, with stretches through old railway tunnels.

Free tours and guided visits

There are no regular free walking tours in Rincón de la Victoria. The usual options are guided visits to the Cueva del Tesoro and the odd route organised by the town council. Pay-what-you-like free walking tours can be found in Málaga city, about fifteen minutes away, covering the historic centre, the cathedral and the Alcazaba.

From here you can take guided trips to Axarquía villages such as Frigiliana or Comares, to the Nerja cave or to the Montes de Málaga. There are also kayak and paddleboard outings along the coast, and hiking routes inland. Another option is to visit Málaga with a guide, going into the Alcazaba or the Picasso Museum.

How long to spend

The town can be seen in a few hours: the Cueva del Tesoro, the Casa Fuerte and a walk along the Senda Litoral. If you use it as a base, stay three or four days and combine beach, a day in Málaga and another in the Axarquía. The Senda Litoral is best enjoyed first thing or at sunset.

Where to stay

The best area is near the seafront, between central Rincón and La Cala del Moral. You will have the beach in front, restaurants and good bus links to Málaga. The hillside developments inland offer sea views and more calm, but you will need a car. If you plan to go into Málaga a lot, look for accommodation near the bus stops on the main road.
